Prominent diplomat Dayan Jayathilake states that Sri Lanka can take late President Nelson Mandela, who took South Africa from a dark past to a prosperous future, as an example.

He stated that rather than dwell on the past, President Mandela worked to achieve reconciliation and questioned why Sri Lanka could not follow the same example and achieve reconciliation.
