Principal who sold desks and chairs for scrap iron arrested

The principal of Ananda College in Puttalam who was accused of selling iron frames of desks and chairs of the school for scrap metal for 35,000 rupees was arrested by the police today.

The complaint against the 52 year old principal was lodged by a member of the school welfare society.

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the chairs and desks were brought to the school from another school in Kalpitiya with the permission of the zonal education director.

The arrested principal is scheduled to be produced before court tomorrow.
