Another human trafficking racket unearthed; mastermind arrested
The mastermind of a foreign job racket promising jobs for youth in international vessels was arrested by Mirihana Police today.
According to the Mirihana Police, the suspect is to be produced before Nugegoda Magistrate Court.
A complaint was made by 4 youth returning from Malaysia, who have paid 400 thousand rupees each to the suspect in return for jobs in Malaysia.
The racket has been carried out by an agency in Nugegoda, which sends youth to Malaysia promising employment on vessels.
Among the deceived were five youth sent by the agency to Malaysia on 12th of November, who found themselves working on small boats and sand barge boats instead of vessels.
The youth have informed the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia, and were rescued by the security units and handed over to the High Commission office.
