The Government has declared tomorrow and the day after as a period of mourning for the first black President in South Africa Nelson Mandela’s death.

The Government Information Department announced to hoist the national flag half mast during this period.

South African authorities have also declared the same dates to pay state honor for former President late Nelson Mandela.

Former President Nelson Mandela was 95 years old when he died on Thursday and his funeral will be held next Sunday.

Meanwhile President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also scheduled to leave for South Africa to participate in the Mandela funeral on Sunday.
