Monday, 09 December 2013 - 12:55

Milko workers have launched a strike since this morning on 6 demands including the year-end bonus.

Strikers also staged a protest in front of the Milko Headquarters in Narahenpita, and their fellow workers attached to the Ambewela, Digana and Polonnaruwa factories have also shown their solidarity with the protesters in Narahenpita.

Meanwhile our news team also contacted Milko Chairman Sunil Wickramasinghe to comment on the current workers strike.

The Chairman stated that a notice was put up under the approval of the Minister, but it has been forcibly ripped off.

It was said that the bonus will be given, and the workers will be made permanent, but since they ripped off the notice, the Minister ordered to interdict them and conduct an inquiry regarding the matter.
