UPFA Local Government members who voted against their budgets summoned
UPFA Local Government members who voted against their budgets for 2014 and defeated them later have been summoned for a special meeting at the parliament complex today.
UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha has made this summons.
Meanwhile Local Government members of the SLFP who voted against the budgets and defeated them later yesterday have also been summoned by party General Secretary Maithreepala Sirisena to the SLFP headquarters.
SLFP senior spokesman said that the local government members were advised on several matters including how to secure the administration of the local bodies.
Meanwhile the UNP Leadership Council has decided to take disciplinary actions against their local government members who did not vote against the budgets presented by UPFA controlled local government bodies.
UNP General Secretary MP Tissa Attanayake said that details of the local government members who did not support to defeat UPFA budgets have already been compiled.
Similarly the party has focussed its attention towards the discussion held with the alliance to obtain its support to win budget votes in local government institutions in which the UNP holds power in.
Dialogue regarding this arose after the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Seethawaka Municipal Council requested the assistance of the UPFA to pass its budget.
Upon inquiry by our news team, the General Secretary of the UNP Parliamentarian Thissa Attanayaka stated that both the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Seethawaka Municipal Council had been severely warned in this regard.
