Video: Seethawaka won by UNP with the support of the government
A vote was taken for several local government institution budgets for 2014 today.
The UNP controlled Seethavakapura Town Council budget was passed unanimously when it was presented for the second time today.
The budget was defeated by one vote at the previous vote taking last week.
However this time, the 4 UPFA members voted with the 7 UNP members for the budget.
At the same time, the Matale Ukuwela Pradeshiya Sabha budget was also passed unanimously and the UPFA controlled Pujapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha budget was passed with 11 majority votes.
The Pujapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Opposition Leader did not vote for the budget while another 2 Opposition members did not participate in the vote taking today.
In addition, the budgets presented by the UPFA controlled Kandy Wattegama Town Council and the Hanguranketha Pradeshiya Sabha were also defeated today.
One UPFA member of the Wattegama Town Council voted with the Opposition to defeat the budget while 4 UPFA members and the NFF member with the 8 UNP members of the Hanguranketha Pradeshiya Sabha voted against the budget to defeat it with 5 votes.
