10000 complaints of missing persons - 4307 are security forces personnel
Secretary of the Presidential Commission to probe the complaints of missing persons H.W. Gunadasa said that the Commission has already received over 10 thousand complaints.
Among the complaints, 4307 are from the relatives of security forces personnel.
The Presidential Commission began receiving complaints from relatives whose family members went missing after 1991 with effect from the 15th of August.
H.W. Gunadasa stated that complaints are entertained until 31st of December, and such complaints could be handed over.
After December 31st, the Commission will hand over the complaints to the Attorney General Department for further action.
Later officers of the Presidential Commission to probe the complaints of missing persons and the Attorney General Department will visit the residential areas of the particular complainants and conduct investigations.
