Saturday, 14 December 2013 - 8:03

Japans special envoy on Peace and Rebuilding in Sri Lanka Yasushi Akashi stated that the ill effects of the 3 decade long war in Sri Lanka cannot be done away with overnight.

He expressed these views at a media briefing that was held yesterday at the Official Residence of the Japanese Ambassador.

Akashi pointed out that defining deadlines for Sri Lanka to complete reconciliation is not practical and hence the international community should continue to work closely with Sri Lanka.

He also assured Japan’s continued support to Sri Lanka.
