Update : Western and Southern Provincial Council elections likely to be held on March 8TH
Government sources stated that elections will probably be held on the 8th of March next year if the Western and Southern Provincial Councils are dissolved on the 28th of this month.
Deputy Election Commissioner M.M. Mohammad said that the Election Commissioner should release the respective gazette within a week after dissolving Provincial Councils and elections should be held within a period between 10 to 12 weeks afterward.
The Deputy Commissioner also said the 2013 voter registrations will be certified on the 31st of this month, and the Provincial Council elections will be held in accordance with the new voter registration.

Western and Southern PC's likely to be dissolved on the 28th
According to government sources Western and Southern Provincial councils are likely to be dissolved on the 28th of this month.
Sources further revealed that elections will be held in March 2014.
However it was revealed during yesterday’s SLFP central working committee meeting that Western and Southern Provincial council elections will be held next year.
Meanwhile, During the parliamentary debate yesterday, UPFA General Secretary Minister Susil Premajayantha stated that during the next couple of weeks Western and Southern Provincial Councils are scheduled to be dissolved.
