The Final Vote on Budget 2014 presented to Parliament by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance Minister is scheduled to be taken at 6 p.m. in Parliament today.

President Rajapaksa presented Budget 2014 in Parliament on November 21st.

The Second Reading debate of Budget 2014 continued for seven days from November 22nd 2013.

The vote on the Second Reading of Budget 2014 was taken on November 29th and it was passed with a majority of 99 votes.

The Third Reading of Budget 2014 commenced on December 4th, and will conclude today with the debate on Expenditure Heads of the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Meanwhile, during the debate UNP MP Harsha de Silva said that a special parliamentary select committee must be established to thoroughly analyze the employee’s provident fund.
