Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa Jayaram states that she hopes to engage in discussions with representatives of Sri Lankan Fishing Community regarding violations of the Indo – Lanka maritime boundary.

Although the Tamil Nadu Chief Minster stated that she would facilitate this discussion before the end of this month, it has not yet taken place.

However, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunarathne stated that discussions will continue between the representatives of both countries’ fishing communities regarding the Indo – Sri Lanka fishermen issue.

He further stated that if the discussions are unsuccessful he will take steps to arrest all Indian fishing vessels that violate the Sri Lankan Maritime boundary.
