Dr. Harsha may be UNP’s Chief Ministerial Candidate for Western Province
A proposal to field UNP MP Dr Harsha de Silva for the party Chief Ministerial Candidacy in the forthcoming Provincial Council election was seconded during the Colombo District Joint Youth Front recently.
When our news team contacted Dr. Harsha de Silva to comment on the proposal, he said that he would maintain reservations over the matter.
Meanwhile Kalutara District UNP MP Palitha Tevarapperuma informed the party leadership on Saturday that he is ready to become Chief Ministerial candidate in the forthcoming Provincial Council election.
At the same time, popular actress Geetha Kumarasinghe stated recently that she is going to contest for the Southern Provincial Council Chief Ministerial post.
Kumarasinghe, the current SLFP Chief Organizer for Bentara-Elpitiya electorate announced her decision during the ‘Hard Talk’ special radio program on Hiru FM.
Our news team contacted present Chief Minister of Southern Provincial Council Shan Wijelal de Silva to comment on Kumarasinghe’s statement.
He said it is up to a party to name a Chief Minister after the election.
