Discussions between India and Sri Lanka Fishermen to begin in January

Indo-Sri Lanka cooperate committee members are scheduled to meet in January.

According to Indian media sources, the representatives of the committee from the 2 countries will discuss the fishermen issue of Indo-Sri Lanka maritime boundary in detail.

It is reported that the discussions will commence by the 2nd week of January.

Speaking to our news team, Deputy Fisheries Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne confirmed this matter.

By now there are 120 Sri Lankan fishermen arrested and 40 trawlers have been seized by Indian authorities.

In the recent past, about 115 Indian trawlers have been seized while 426 fishermen have been arrested.
