Video: Fire in the Hanthana mountain range; Air Force also deployed to fight the fire

The Sri Lanka Air Force has also been deployed to combat the fire that had erupted in the Hanthana mountain range at approximately 3pm today.

Air Force Media Spokesperson Air Commodore Andrew Wijeysuriya stated that a Bell 412 Helicopter with fire fighting gear has been deployed.

A spokesperson for the Kandy police stated that information regarding the fire was received via a call made to the emergency number and that the Kandy Fire Fighting Unit was deployed to the scene of the fire at that very moment.

Speaking to our news team Duty Fireman Chandana Gamage stated that the fire had erupted near the 4th mile post in the Hanthana range and that the prevailing winds in the region had made controlling the fire difficult.
