Astronomers are stating that a New Moon will dawn on the 1st of January signifying the dawn of the New Year.

Scientists state that this phenomenon is occurring after 19 years.
The intensity of the moon is at its lowest on the 1st of January and astronomers call this phenomenon a New Moon.

This occurs when the orbit of the moon takes it between earth and the sun.

During this time the dark side of the moon is exposed to the earth and the moon is barely visible to the naked eye.
