The investigation committee regarding the unmanned railway engine incident, has uncovered the cause to be negligence of the engine driver and his assistant.

The report was submitted by the three-person committee to the Transport Minister Kumara Welgama, at the Ministry today.

The unmanned Y – Class railway engine was running from Dematagoda hydropower running-shed passing Fort Railway station along coastal railway lines on December 5th.

Following the incident, Railway General Manager appointed a three-person committee to investigate regarding the matter.
