The budgets of the UPFA controlled Bulathsinhala, Hingurakkgoda and Hanguranketa Pradeshiya Sabhas and Ja Ela Urban Council were defeated during the second vote taking today.
At the same time, uncertainty prevailed about the vote taking of several local government institutions.
The Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha received only one vote while 11 other members voted against it.
Chairman Thusitha Kularatna voted for the budget while all 8 other party members joined the 3 UNP members to defeat the budget.
Hingurakkgoda Pradeshiya Sabha budget was also defeated with 3 majority votes and it was defeated with 6 majority votes during the first vote taking.
The Sabha meeting was presided by the Deputy Chairman as its Chairman Susantha Gnanaratna was hospitalized due to a sudden illness.
Meanwhile UNP controlled Passara Pradeshiya Sabha budget which was defeated at the first vote taking was passed with 3 majority votes at the second vote taking today.
Our correspondent said that 3 UPFA members joined their UNP counterparts to vote for the budget.
However the UNP members have voted for the budget after its Chairman M.A. Cader agreed in writing in front of 2 Moulavies to hand over the post to the Deputy Chairman before the 31st March next year.
He has stated that the particular agreement would be submitted to the Party General Secretary.
