Power failures that occurred in several areas back to normal
It was reported to our news team that power failure had occurred in the island’s several areas last afternoon.
The reason for this was the instantaneous power severance due to a high capacity power passing through the path channeling power to Colombo and the Southern province from Lakshapaana.
In addition to this in the attempt to provide power to the affected areas from the Norochcholai power plant the Norochcholai system also failed.
However Electricity Board Chariman W. B. Ganegala said that by now his staff was taking steps to bring the situation to normalcy as soon as possible.
Our reporters said that as a result of this situation there was power failure in a number of areas such as Haputale, Diyatalawa, Ampara, Hatton, Bandarawela, Dambulla, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Tissamaharama, Homagama, Hambantota, Kataragama, Galle, and Matara
