Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammad Sahabdeen issued a 7-day detention order for the Colombo Crime Division to question Wellampitiya Police OIC’s wife Roshini Chandrakanthi.

Roshini Chandrakanthi was arrested by Colombo Crime Division last evening for her alleged involvement in her OIC husband’s narcotic possession charges.

Meanwhile Police Media Spokesman told our news team that the Wellampitiya OIC has been interdicted with effect from today.

The Colombo Crime Division arrested the Wellampitiya Police OIC on charges of possessing narcotics on Tuesday night.

A 7 day detention order was issued on him too to enable the Colombo Crime Division to question him over the charges when the OIC was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate.

Besides the 2 suspects, police have arrested another two suspects in connection with this narcotic racket.

A police spokesman said that investigations are now on to ascertain for how long the racket was in operation.

Detention order issued for Wellampitiya OIC's wife

Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammad Sahabdeen issued a 7-day detention order for the Colombo Crime Division to question Wellampitiya Police OIC’s wife Roshini Chandrakanthi.

Roshini Chandrakanthi was arrested by Colombo Crime Division yesterday evening for her alleged involvement in her OIC husband’s  narcotic possession charges.

Meanwhile Police Media Spokesman told our news team that the Wellampitiya OIC has been interdicted with effect from today.

Court allows police to detain Wallampitiya OIC for 7 days to question over possessing drugs; wife also arrested.


The Colombo Crime Division today arrested the wife of Wellampitiya OIC Bandara Munasinghe who is already in police custody for possessing heroin.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the detectives are currently questioning the suspected OIC and, further investigations will be carried out on the information disclosed by him.

Investigations so far revealed that the cash found along with heroin were given to the OIC by the arrested drug dealers.

SSP Ajith Rohana also said that police received information about the close relationship between the OIC and the middleman of this drug racket.

He also said that the IGP has decided to enforce law strictly against policemen those who even make minute offences.
