Allegations against Tamilnadu for taking advantage out of Sri Lanka
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Ramanathapuram has extended till January 10, the judicial remand of 59 Sri Lankan fishermen, arrested by the Marine police in Tuticorin during September-November last year.
CJM N. Dharman extended the judicial remand of the fishermenlodged in Puzhal central prison near Chennai, using the videoconferencing facility yesterday.
The police sought extension of remand stating investigations were yet to be completed.
Meanwhile fishermen in Nagapattinam have called off their work strike from last night.
The prolonged strike was given up following a delay in the promised high-level talks between Sri Lankan and Indian fishermen.
Meanwhile, the Indian Congress Party stated that Tamil Nadu Politicians were taking petty political advantage out of issues pertaining to Sri Lanka.
Minister of Industry and Commerce in India Sudharshan Nachchiyappan stated that they would put forward a congress led alliance in Tamil nadu.
