Indian Foreign Minister Salmon Kurshid says that Sri Lanka should honor the Indo-Lanka agreement reached between former Indian Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi and Sri Lanka.
Participating in the discussion with the Pakistani web-site ‘Kebaart’, the Indian Foreign Minister said that Sri Lanka had asked India for support and that the Indo-Sri Lanka agreement was a response to the request.
The Indian Foreign Minister said that under the Indo-Sri Lanka agreement Sri Lanka agreed for provincial power dissolution as in India. However he said, Sri Lanka is a sovereign state and holds the right to decide about the country.
Salmon Kurshid said further that India ensured that as a result of the 13th amendment it would be possible for the Sinhala, Tamil and all other Sri Lankan ethnic groups to co-exist with dignity.
