Police warns of racketeers.
Police say that there are racketeers who operate in the guise of porters, offer soft drinks tainted with intoxicants to unsuspected people before robbing them.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that common victims were returning expatriates, and incidents of this kind have been reported from the Katunayake Airport, Colombo Central Bus Terminal and the surrounding areas.
If there are any victims at large, police urge them to inform the details to the following telephone numbers: 0112 94 77 77, 0112 94 77 80, 077 82 72 677 or 077 55 81 926.
Meanwhile Bribery sleuths arrested the OIC of the Minor Crime branch of the Fort Police Station for obtaining a bribe today.
The OIC allegedly demanded 75,000 rupees from a person to not prosecute him for public misbehaviour.a
