Update : Video: 24 suspects who stormed prayer centres identified.

The police have identified 24 suspects who were involved in day before yesterday’s attack on prayer centers in Hikkaduwa including eight Buddhist monks.

Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana claimed that the police have compiled a report on the attack and have submitted the list of identified suspects to the courts.

Protest in Hikkaduwa against prayer centres

Buddhist Organizations in Hikkaduwa staged a protest in the area against prayer centres operating in the region.

Our correspondent stated that monks and residents took part in the protest.

Police had to temporarily close down Galle Road as residents entered the Galle Road passing the Hikkaduwa town.

Owners of two prayer centres in Hikkaduwa stated that protesters had caused damages to their prayer centres.
