The JVP handed over a petition to the Human Rights Commission today requesting to hold the second vote taking of the UPFA controlled Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha budget again.

The petition points out that the JVP member was barred entry to the meeting hall thereby preventing him from voting in the second vote taking of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha budget.

The petition has also requested the Human Rights Commission to declare that the act of preventing him from voting is a violation of the JVP member’s fundamental rights.

The Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha budget was defeated with 3 majority votes during its first vote taking held on the 4th of December.

However the budget was passed with one majority vote during its second vote taking held on the 17th of December.
