The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has decided to contest alone for the three districts in the Western Province in the forthcoming Provincial Council elections.

This was announced by party leader Minister Rauff Hakeem during a ceremony held in Kandy today.

He also said that the party has not decided yet whether it goes alone in the provincial polls in the South.

However JHU Media Spokesman Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said that his party would contest in the forthcoming provincial council elections under the UPFA ticket.

NFF Media Spokesman former MP Mohammad Mussamil said that his party will also contest the PC elections under the UPFA ticket.

Meanwhile UPFA MP Prabha Ganeshan said that his party will tie up with the Ceylon Workers Congress to contest the Western Provincial polls.

However Prabha Ganeshan’s brother and leader of the Democratic Peoples Front former MP Mano Ganeshan said that his party will contest alone in the forthcoming Western PC polls.

He said that he has the blessings of the TNA for the Western Provincial polls.

Meanwhile the UNP has appointed a nomination board consisting of 12 MPs including Leadership Council Chairman Karu Jayasuriya to select candidates for the forthcoming PC polls.
