The Central Environment Authority and the Environment Ministry have decided to introduce new laws in sale of lands by fragmentation.

The Central Environment Authority points out that now it has been revealed that on a large scale lands are being fragmented and sold for development projects and house-constructions.

Central Environment Authority Director General Dr. Saaranga Alahapperuma told our news team that this was a cause for the destruction of the country’s environment and soil erosion.

The CEA Director General pointed out that accordingly under the new law felling and removal of trees from lands in one go would not be permitted.

Central Environment Authority Director General Dr. Saaranga Alahapperuma said that soil conservation and tree felling in the lands concerned should be carried out in several stages.
