President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid homage to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy this morning and received its blessings.
Later he paid a visit to the Chief Prelate of the Malwatu Chapter Most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera and had cordial discussions with the Nayake Thera.
The President’s Media Unit stated that the President also paid a visit to the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkita Thera.
Later the President paid a visit to the Chief Prelate of the Ramanya Nikaya Most Venerable Naapaane Premasiri Thera at the Vidyasagara Maha Pirivena in Menik Hinna.
Meanwhile the President participated in a Thaipongal ceremony held at the Bogambara grounds in Kandy.
Speaking to the gathering, the President said that all the people should join arm in arm to dispel anger and hatred, unite as one nation while propagating peace and happiness.
