Leader of the democratic front Sarath Fonseka states that he will complain to the Human rights commission and the UN regarding the incident that occurred near the Balapitiya market yesterday during a party election meeting.

A tense situation arose in Balapitiya town yesterday when police took in to custody a vehicle for having used loudspeakers without permission for election activities.

When Sarath Fonseka arrived at the location, Ahungalla Police informed him that the meeting could not be allowed as a permit for the use of loudspeakers had not been obtained.

A tense situation arose as Sarath Fonseka began to address the meeting despite police objection.

A heated situation arose between the Police and Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka.

However, police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that legal action was taken since permits were not obtained to use loud speakers and as a result of an issue over the place where the meeting was held.
