The Tamil Nadu government said that orders have been issued by a Sri Lankan court for the release of 60 jailed Indian fishermen and 15 fishing boats confiscated by the island nation.

A similar order has been issued in Tamil Nadu for the release of 17 Sri Lankan fishermen and seven boats.

Since Jan 13, 232 Indian fishermen have been released by Sri Lanka.

 

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunarathna stated that they hope to directly hold discussions with Tamil nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jeyaram at the Indo-Sri Lanka fishermen’s discussion on the 27th in India.
