The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has decided to contest on its own in the upcoming Southern Provincial Council Election as well.
Former parliamentarian and SLMC National Organizer Shafeeq Rajabdeen stated that this decision was taken when the supreme council of the SLMC convened yesterday.
SLMC recently decided to contest on its own in the Western Province under the symbol of the tree.
However, the National Freedom Front has voiced its opposition regarding the decision of the SLMC, which is a part of the government alliance, to contest the up coming provincial council elections on its own.
Issuing a statement Media Spokesperson of the NFF Mohammed Musammil has stated that the SLMC is contesting on its own to spread extremist opinions.
