Video: Vass and Ravindu ordered to surrender passports to CID
Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandima Liyanage ordered former DIG Vass Gunawardana and his son Ravindu Gunawardana to hand over their passports to the CID.
The order was given following the request of ASP Shani Abeysekera of the CID when Bambalapitiya businessman Mohammad Siyam’s murder case was taken before the Colombo Additional Magistrate today.
ASP Abeysekera also submitted to Court a report of the ongoing investigations, and informed the Court that the CID has already presented extract of the investigations for legal advice.
Meanwhile the Lawyer of Ravindu Gunawardana informed Court that the passport of his client had been misplaced a few months ago, but a complaint was not made with regard to the incident as Ravindu did not travel overseas in the last 4 months.
Later the Magistrate ordered the CID to seek the assistance of the Controller of Immigration and Emigration in future investigations with regard to the loss of Ravindu Gunawardana’s passport. Accordingly the Magistrate further remanded all 6 suspects including Vass Gunawardana until the 27th of this month.
