300 families of Walpola East of Ragama inconvenienced without water
Over 300 families of Walpola East of Ragama have been inconvenienced after the water supply to the area was interrupted for the last 4 days.
Residents say that water is supplied to the area through a community water supply project which is fed by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
They also complained that the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has suspended supply to the community project as it has to pay the Board an outstanding balance.
When our news team contacted the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, an officer attached to its Ja Ela branch said that the supply is interrupted as the community water project has to pay an outstanding balance of 1.2 million rupees.
Several attempts by our news team to contact the officials of the community water project were futile as none of them answered our calls.
