Video: Power, Money and Votes behind international pressure - Prof. G. L. clarifies to Biswal
External Affairs Minster Professor G.L. Peries said that several factors including money, elections and power are operating behind the international elements against Sri Lanka.
Professor Peries added however that he was not necessarily referring this to the US.
The Minister expressed his views during a meeting he had with US Assistant State Secretary Nisha Biswal this morning.
The Minister has also said during the meeting that no Sri Lankan wants a war to be fought again and stressed the importance of the American representatives visiting Sri Lanka without premeditated plans.
During the meeting, US Assistant State Secretary for Central and South Asian countries Nisha Biswal has told that America expects to maintain a positive relationship with Sri Lanka.
She has told that the US has no private agenda against Sri Lanka but stated that there are certain stumbling blocks on its way towards reconciliation.
US Assistant State Secretary Biswal met Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa before her meeting with the External Affairs Minister this morning.
She was scheduled to meet Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in this afternoon.
