UPDATE: US says there will be no sanctions against Sri Lanka
US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal stated that the 3rd resolution against Sri Lanka will be presented at the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva.

Speaking at a media briefing that was held yesterday in Colombo she stated that the International community was losing patience over the slow progress made by Sri Lanka on reconciliation.
However, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs stated that the US does not intend in imposing sanctions on Sri Lanka.
She participated at the media briefing following a visit to the northern part of the country.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organization had held a meeting in Chennai yesterday during which they had passed a resolution that India should support the US resolution against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Right Council session in Geneva.

A push to the US resolution during Nisha Biswal's Northern tour.
The Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in the United States Department of State, Nisha Biswal visited the North today.
According to our correspondent she met with Bishop of Jaffna Thomas Saundaranayagam.
During the meeting the Bishop had stated that the people in the North anticipate an international investigation.
The Assistant Secretary also met with TNA Northern provincial councillor Anandi Shashidaran.
However, addressing a meeting held in Mathara today Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abewardana stated that Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Biswal should have visited Sri lanka during the war period.
