Sri Lanka Navy has arrested 19 Indian fishermen for violating the Indo-Sri Lanka maritime boundary.

Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated that the fishermen along with 5 fishing trawlers were intercepted off Delft.

He stated that the fishermen were taken to the Kankesanturai Port and handed over to the fisheries inspector in charge of the area.

Following the recent talks between fishermen of both countries, Indian fishermen had assured to refrain from entering Sri Lankan waters and from using illegal fishing equipment.

However these arrests took place as the Indian fishermen had violated the condition set.
