Video : Special security plan on last nomination days - 3000 policemen deployed on duty in the two provinces.
Police Headquarters announced that a special security plan will be in operation on tomorrow and day after tomorrow in the areas where the two Provincial council elections are held.
The main political parties expect to hand over their nominations tomorrow and day after tomorrow.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that 3000 police officers have been deployed in these areas on the two days.
Meanwhile JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that his party will hand over the nominations to all districts of the two provinces except Colombo district tomorrow.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that his party expects to hand over all the nominations tomorrow. He said that the duly filled nominations papers have already been given to district leaders.
The UPFA will hand over its nomination papers for Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts tomorrow. A UPFA spokesman told our news team that its nominations for Southern Province will be handed over on the last day of nominations that falls on next Thursday.
Meanwhile the Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that election campaign processions have been banned after the handing over of nominations.
He further said that politicians as well as their supporters who violate election rules and attempt to hold propaganda processions will be taken into custody.
