Rajarata University students decline Court order.
The Rajarata University Students Union states that it has not accepted the court order, ordering the students who are conducting a continuous fast in front of the Rajarata University to conclude the fast.
The fast, which was initiated against the suspension of 28 students, has been held for 58 days.
The Officer in Charge of the Mihintale Police had subsequently filed a case at the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court stating that the public is being inconvenienced due to the fast.
Upon considering the case, Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Yuresha De Silva issued the order for the fast to be removed from its current location.
However, the chairman of the Rajarata University Students Union Dinesh Kumara stated that they had not accepted the order when it was delivered to them and he also stated that the fast will continue until solutions are granted for their demands.
Upon inquiry by our news team, a senior police officer of the Mihintale Police stated that the court order was pasted on the platform upon which the fast is being conducted.
