No confidence motion against chairman of NCPC T. M. R. Siripala
Reports state that the UNP members representing the opposition of the North Central Provincial Council are preparing to present a no confidence motion against the chairman of the NCPC T. M. R. Siripala.
Sources within the opposition stated that the decision to present this no confidence motion was based on 3 facts including the failure of the PC chairman to put into action decisions taken at PC meetings.
The opposition also allege that they are not being given opportunities to discuss questions raised by them and that their democratic rights are being violated.
Sources within the opposition stated that the no confidence motion is being prepared and that it will be presented to the secretary of the North Central Provincial Council R. K. A. Premasiri in the near future.
Our news team inquired from the chairman of the NCPC T. M. R. Siripala regarding this and in response he stated that he is not aware of a no confidence motion.
It was the UNP members of the North Central Provincial Council that had nominated the name of T. M. R. Siripala for the position of chairman of the PC and the ruling UPFA had nominated Provincial Councillor Amarakeerthi Athukorala for the same post.
However, as two names were nominated, T. M. R. Siripala won following a secret vote.
The monthly session of the North Central Provincial Council is scheduled to be held on the 11th of this month.
