The UNP has decided to temporarily suspend the party membership of Kalutara District UNP MP Paalitha Thevarapperuma.
The membership has been thus suspended because of the MP’s rebellious behaviour at the parliamentary group meeting held on 5th this month.
This decision was taken after the discussion held on the incident between UNP National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Leadership Council yesterday.
This discussion was held in accordance with a report about MP Thevarapperuma’s rebellious behaviour at the parliamentary group meeting submitted by MPs Ranjan Ramanayake and Akila Viraaj Kaariyawasam.
In addition a senior UNP spokesman told our news team that while it had been also decided at the above discussion to hold an inquiry in the future about MP Paalitha Thevarapperuma’ behaviour, the party disciplinary committee was scheduled to be informed about it.
Meanwhile reports said that at the parliamentary group meeting held last Wednesday MP Paalitha Thevarapperuma had charged Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Leadership Team members about a problem with regard to the Kalutara District nominations.
