The Election Commissioner has informed all candidates contesting the forthcoming elections in the Western and Southern Provinces to submit their declaration of assets before the 28th of this month.

3,794 candidates will be contesting the election and the Elections Commissioner had previously stated that the candidates identity card will not be provided to those who do not declare their assets.

Meanwhile, Election monitoring group PAFFEREL stated that the first shooting incident of the election was reported this morning.

The Police Media Spokesperson also stated that steps will be taken to arrest UPFA Candidate Ajith Prasanna who obstructing the duty of a Police sergeant in the Wanduramba area.

Meanwhile, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha stated that their election campaign is been carried out under the theme “Happiness and Freedom”.

JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath stated that their election campaign is already underway under the theme “Victory to the public’s voice”.
