No plans to resign from the UNP Central Working Committee; Says Mussamil
Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Musammil says that he has no planning to resign from the UNP Central Working Committee.
Certain media reported today that Musammil had decided to resign from the UNP Central Working Committee.
When our news team contacted Musammil, he said that he did not send a resignation letter to the Party Leader.
Later our news team contacted UNP General Secretary MP Tissa Attanayake to comment on the incident.
The Party General Secretary told our news team that he did not receive such a letter from the Colombo Mayor.
Earlier, Colombo Mayor’s wife Feroza Musammil informed UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on the 6th of this month that she resigned from the Party National Executive Committee after Feroza was denied nominations to contest in the forthcoming Western Provincial Council election.
Meanwhile UNP Leadership Council Chairman MP Karu Jayasuriya told a media briefing held in Colombo this morning that several government ministers and MPs are waiting for the correct time to join the UNP.
