Minister G.L. Peries to address Geneva Human rights sessions on March 5th
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris has been given the opportunity to make an address on the 5th of March during the UN Human Rights Summit being held in Geneva.
This was stated in the agenda that was updated by the UN Human Rights Council.
The 25th summit of the UNHRC is scheduled to begin on the 3rd of March and Minister Peiris is scheduled to address the summit two days after it begins.
British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs William Hague and Minister of External Affairs for Canada John Baird are scheduled to address the summit during the first day.
It is expected that they will allude to the resolution that will be presented against Sri Lanka during this summit.
Britain and the United States of America have already stated that they will be the sponsors of this resolution against Sri Lanka.
The 25th UN Human Rights Summit will begin with a statement made by the General Secretary of the UN Ban Ki Moon and his address will be followed by a statement by the UN Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pillay.
