Water supply to Colombo, Kandy, Matara and Kalutara limited; No rain for 10 more days
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board state that the water supply to the Colombo, Kandy, Matara and Kalutara districts have become limited.
General Manager of the The National Water Supply and Drainage Board Ranjith Balasuriya stated that the prevalent dry weather spell that is affecting the country is the reason for the limitation.
Elaborating further he stated that due to the dry weather, water supply to higher areas have become restricted.
He also stated that if the current dry weather continues for approximately a month water supply to a number of areas in the country will have to be restricted as well.
Meanwhile, the Met Department states that the dry weather being experienced around the island will prevail for the next 10 days.
Elaborating further Director General of the Met Department Lalith Chandrapala stated that February is the month with the lowest rainfall in the island.
