25 Sri Lankan fishermen apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard for fishing in Indian waters were remanded till the 25th of this month by Nagapattinam Judicial Magistrate.

They were charged for illegal fishing in Indian waters under the Maritimes Zones of India regulation of fishing by foreign vessels Act at the Marine Police station.

Meanwhile fishermen of five coastal districts of Tamil Nadu including Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram and Nagapattinam have decided not to venture out into the sea for fishing from Thursday for a month.
