Requests made to develop the Kolonnawa – Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya into a secondary school have been met with favourable responses.
That is with the intervention of Colombo District MP R Dumindha Silva.
Kolonnawa – Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya was established 50 years ago but since last year education was restricted only up to grade 5.
The Education Ministry has taken a decision to transfer the students after grade 5 to Kolonnawa Olcott College.
Since it was a hindrance to students as well as parents they continued to protest against the education Ministry.
Yesterday they engaged in a protest in front of the school as well.
Subsequently MP R Dumindha Silva came an had a discussion with the protestors and contacted the relevant stakeholders via phone.
Following the discussion the protestors dispersed while thanking MP R Dumindha Silva for providing them a solution.
