Update : Posters of UPFA candidate taken in to custody from Akuressa Pradeshiya sabha premises
Police have taken into custody 3 thousand 200 election propaganda posters printed and stored by a UPFA candidate in the canteen of the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha building.
Acting on a tip-off, Matara Assistant Election Commissioner Tilina Wickremarathna together with a police team raided the place and traced the bundle of posters last night.
Meanwhile the Complaints Unit of the Election Secretariat has received 147 complaints against violation of election rules so far.
Among them, there are 40 unlawful meetings and protests, 33 job appointments, transfers and promotions and 23 complaints of illegal propaganda posters.
However the Police Media Spokesman said that the Police Election Unit has received only 9 election related complaints.

Posters seized for violating election law
A load of posters violating the elections law was seized by the officer in charge of Matara electorate and a group of Police officers during a raid last night, following a tip-off received by Matara Additional Elections Commissioner.
About 3200 illegal posters have been printed by a UPFA candidate, which were discovered by the police at a canteen in Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha.
According to the Police media sources, the posters have been handed over to Akuressa Police and an inquiry is underway regarding the matter.
