We are humbly proud of our sister station Hiru News, as one of its news items inspired authorities to eye on a young visually impaired female graduate of Na Ula in Matale and redress her woe.
Geethamalee Vinodika undertook enormous hardships to study for an art degree through brail system at the Sri Jayawardanapura University in 2010.
When she was called for an interview under the trainee graduates recruitment programme in September 2012, Geethamalee heaved a sigh of relief.
However to Geethamalee’s disappointment, she was informed by the District Secretary that she was not instructed to recruit the differently able under the same recruitment program.
Later Geethamalee informed her woe to several authorities but her effort was in vain.
Ultimately weary and disappointed, Geethamalee told her story to our sister station Hiru News on the 12th of last January.
After our sister station highlighted Geethamalee’s grievance, the authorities drew their attention to settle Geethamalee’s problem.
Geethamalee received her letter of appointment as a trainee graduate attached to the Matale District Secretariat today.
