Kolonnawa Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya issue resolved with the intervention of MP R Dumindha Silva.
The Kolonnawa Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya children’s and parents’ request for the school’s development as a secondary school was officially resolved yesterday through Colombo District MP R. Dumindha Silva’s intervention.
The handing over of the relevant official announcement to the school principal in writing took place under the patronage of MP R. DumindHa Silva.
The Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya which has a history of 50 years was converted from about one year as a school where classes are conducted only up to grade five.
The students of that school had been transferred to the Kolonnawa Olcott Vidyalaya.
A protest too was staged against this in front of the school last Thursday.
Colombo District MP R. DumindHa Silva who met the protesters had assured them that by yesterday their problem would have been resolved.
MP R. DumindHa Silva who came to the school bringing a proper solution to the school’s problem keeping the promise made to the people exactly, was warmly received at the Gothatuwa Mahaa Vidyaalaya.
Gothatuwa Puraanakandey Buddhist Temple Chief Incumbent Venerable Amunukandurey Dhammaratana Thero submitted to the council the letter issued by Education Ministry Additional Secretary.
Subsequently Colombo MP R. DumindHa Silva handed over the relevant letter to school principal S. N. Priyadarshani.
MP R. Duminda Silva addressed the audience subsequently and thanked President Mahinda Rajapakse and Education Minister Bandula Gunawardana for the support.
Parents and Students of the school thanked MP R Dumindha Silva for his yaom service.
