Britain's Prince Charles has made a personal donation towards the upkeep of the British Garrison Cemetery in Kandy.

The British High Commission in Colombo said The Prince's donation will go towards the continuing upkeep of the colonial cemetery, which is visited by many tourists to Kandy each year.

The Prince of Wales has visited the cemetery when he was in Sri Lanka to open the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in November last year, after paying his respects at the Temple of the Tooth.
